ORIGIN OF BUTTER CHICKEN

The origin most of the non-veg recipes was made by Mughals, British, and Portuguese in India. But you will be truly amazed by the fact that butter chicken is originated in India. Yet it is a fusion of Mughal and Indian cooking but still, it is completely Indian.

If you are still wondering that how is it possible? Butter chicken was made by an Indian cook in 1948. It was made Kundan Lal Gujral in Moti Mahal Restaurant in Delhi. One Kundan Lal Gujral found extra tandoori chicken which was leftover of last night. So, instead of wasting it. He found a brilliant idea to mix the tandoori chicken in a creamy gravy made of tomato, cashew nut paste, and butter. It was turned out as a finger-licking recipe. From that period it became famous in all over India. It has become so popular that Indian prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru and former U.S president Richard Nixon had a meal in this restaurant. Butter chicken has become a staple food from north Indian restaurants to roadside dhabas.

WHAT IS BUTTER CHICKEN?

The authentic Butter Chicken is cooked in clay ovens of the tandoor. It is marinated with a mixture of spices, yogurt, garlic, and ginger paste. It is then either grilled in tandoor or panfried. Once the grilled chicken is ready, then it is cooked in a tomato sauce and creamy gravy. Herbs like kasoori methi provides it an earthy and smoky taste and the cashew paste makes its texture thick and more delicious. The secret of this spicy recipe lays in the combination of tangy tomatoes and rich cream.

Butter Chicken's immense popularity gave rise to new forms of chicken recipes like chicken lababdar, chicken tikka masala, and Murgh Makhanwallah.

Before starting the cooking process I will recommend using Alco spices and MED Butter Chicken Gravy containing healthy and fresh ingredients to make this gravy special for your loved ones. I will prepare the whole recipe using MED Butter Chicken spice as it increases the taste and this packed jar. So, Let’s begin the cooking process –

Take a big bowl and Marinate the chicken using salt and ginger-garlic paste.

Wrap the bowl and keep it in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.

In between taking a pan, add some water to it and put it on the oven flame.

Once it started boiling, add the MED butter chicken spice jar ingredients and keep stirring for 3 minutes to make a thick gravy.

Now take out the marinated chicken from the fridge and either pan fry or grill it.

I prefer pan-frying to avoid long-process.

Take a pan, put it over the flame. Once it gets heated add 1/3 tbsp butter in it.

As soon as the butter gets melted, add the spicy gravy to the pan and keep stirring until it simmers.

Now add the whisked cream in the gravy with the pieces of fried chicken.

Give it a nice stir and cover the pan for 2-3 minutes.

Serve the hot and spicy gravy with buttery parathas or steamed rice.
